Final 2 Minute Cut

My drift 2 final project turned out very well. I believe that I broke up the video into three different sections. The first section, almost the same as the rough cut, includes a rhythm that speeds up the audio tracks until it sounds like a system overload. The middle section, which is short and sweet, includes an uncut nature sound track with birds that seems fairly peaceful. The final section plays a rhythm that ends up feeling somewhat futuristic with the effects that are given.
The audio plays a huge roll within my project and that is what holds the whole thing together. When making the video I first would focus on making the audio track and knew that it would be easy to add images when that needed to come into play. I liked to reuse some of my clips throughout the video but put them with different audio tracks. This would give them a different meaning because the context is different. For example, the beginning clips and the finishing clips are similar but it comes into play completely differently.
This was an interesting project to work with because there was so much room open for creativity that I was able to explore and come up with something that is unique and interesting. I would like to try to create another video like this someday.

1 Minute Rough Cut

I really like how my rough cut turned out. The first step I took was making a rhythm out of my audio clips. To do so I picked out sounds from each of my recordings that I enjoyed and created a little song. Once I made this little song that lasts a little under a minute I then picked out some shots that seemed like they would fit to the beat of the music. I believe that it turned out well and I will most likely keep this same rhythm that I have built here.

Silent Rough Cut Sketch

For my first silent cut video I decided to put together some clips in a way that shows a bit of rhythm. I will be able to do a lot more when I am able to add sound to this piece and I look forward to playing around with that rhythm and combine it with the video.

Drift Strategy

After completing my first drift I noticed what worked well and what was not as effective. Overall however I enjoyed the location that I chose for my Drift 1. I would like to explore this area more but not following the exact same path as my first drift. I would really prefer not to have a real strategy for when I am on my walk; I would rather just randomly walk around in the same general area and find sounds that interest me. For my walk to record video I found a nice park area that was of interest. There is also a nearby lake that could produce some pretty shots. The idea for my video strategy will be to only have shots where the camera is on the ground. This will create a new and interesting perspective for the viewer and show them the world in a way that they normally dont see. I look forward to shooting video and recording new sounds.
